Good to know

Year round fun for all ages at a huge lakefront property just 79 miles from Minneapolis with easy access off I-94! Relax at a 4,000+ SF home that features a private dock with a sandy private beach, non-motorized water toys and a gaming garage while comfortably sleeping up to 17 guests! OUTSIDE SPACE: The home is mere steps from the water of Middle Spunk Lake! The wrap-around deck and 4-season sun room provides plenty of places to relax. There's also 8 poly Adirondack chairs to use in the yard, which features two fire pits. A 36-inch Blackstone griddle and charcoal Weber grill are on site along with a basketball hoop, scooters, bean bag toss, bocce ball set and more. Seven inflatable SUPs and a 6x20 splash pad will also be on site for guests to use, along with two Pelican kayaks and four kid kayaks. MIDDLE SPUNK LAKE: 89 feet of lake frontage with new riprap shoreline and a hard sandy bottom that's shallow for dozens of feet and perfect for kids to play. The lake itself is 236 acres with average water clarity of 13 feet, which the state classifies as "good" to "very good." It's a popular recreational lake with solid fishing and public boat access just down the street from this property! Our dock is 64 feet long with an 8x8 platform on the end and a bench. GARAGE: The heated and insulated attached garage with a new epoxy floor has been converted into a game haven. A high-end 9-foot shuffleboard table is the headliner, but other options include the classic 4-player NBA Jam arcade game, a Pac Man machine with 12 games, 4-player X-Men arcade game and a Retro Arcade machine with 32" screen and 5,000+ old school arcade games. Multiple reclining couches provide plenty of seating to kick back and relax in front of 65" and 55" smart TVs — with modded Nintendo Classic featuring 200+ games! Open the garage door to watch the kids hoop while enjoying a cold beverage from the full size garage fridge! MAIN FLOOR: Open sight lines from front to back with tons of seating options! The main level of this rambler features the best of both worlds — open concept with options to close doors for private spaces. Cuddle up with the 14-foot wide power leather sectional in front of the 75" smart TV or pull up a chair at one of two large dining tables, including a beautiful epoxy one from Europe. There's also a sunken fire pit with another comfy couch and 55" smart TV that kids will love. If you prefer privacy, the coffee nook has a settee and can be closed off from the main living area. The sun room overlooking the water can also be closed off for privacy — and has amazing views of the sunset! The fully-stocked kitchen with brand new stainless steel appliances has granite tops and everything guests should expect from a long-time Superhost — blender, crock pot, air fryer, frother for coffee, Ninja Slushi and more! BASEMENT: A third dining table is available in the basement with 6 chairs adjoining a third living room that's set up with a 6-seat LoveSac couch, a 55" smart TV and an Xbox with some popular games like Minecraft, Paw Patrol racing, NCAA College Football and more. There's also a kitchenette in the basement with a microwave, mini fridge and a second Keurig Duo. Other Details to Note

Please note that the basement ceiling is quite low in a couple rooms due to the sunken fireplace on the main floor. One bedroom and the TV room with the LoveSac and Xbox have just 6-foot ceilings. It's legal and permitted by Stearns County, but still important for guests to know ahead of time. The rest of the basement is just under 7 feet — good for kids and sleeping since you'll be elsewhere most of your stay. Also, the two basement living areas are separated by the utility room. This separation is unusual, but does allow for extended families to easily separate for naps and/or bed time. The wood burning fireplace is decorative and NOT to be used by guests.

This is our second time staying here at Big Bear. The home is awesome and spacious. The water toys were enough even for our large crew. Beds were comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook for 11 of us, and MORE. More plates, bowls and silverware to keep us going without washing dishes constantly. We really loved the Big Bear mugs! Awesome sunsets, comfy beach chairs (I want to know where you bought those Adirondack chairs. Perfect size and slant), Paddle boards were popular and the Maui Mat was a hit! We had spectacular sunsets. Fishing off the dock was amazing. The 7,8 & 9 year old kept me baiting and taking off fish constantly! We look forward to coming back another time. Maybe with friends. You can comfortably house a nice friend group here. Thank you Brett for sharing your home with our family.

The large cabin was a great place for our family of 12 ( 6 adults and 6 children) to enjoy for a week. The kids loved the outdoor toys; kayak, paddleboard and spent hours on the Maui Mat. We walked to the park and played pickleball (paddle and balls provided at the cabin). After a day on the water the kids snuggled to watch a movie in the bear cave. The cabin had many amenities including a coffee bar.

Wife and I spent 3 days with our 3 adult children and 5 grandchildren. The home is unique, clean, comfortable. So well stocked, from the bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen. So many water toys, Maui pad, fishing gear, kayaks and paddle boards. Games in the garage too. Fire pit was great, well stocked with wood! We had a great stay, highly recommended! Thank you

Brett's place exceeded our expectations in every way. From the little touches like personalized mugs in the coffee room to the extensive variety of activities to do on the property, we were overwhelmed. The kitchen and bathrooms had everything you need and more. There are so many special places to sit and enjoy the view. The grills and sports equipment were accessible and in great shape. The location is perfect and Brett has thought of everything to make this place amazing!!

If you have the chance to stay at Big Bear Lake House, you absolutely should! Not only did the home meet all our needs from appliances to the amount of space to entertainment options and amenities, but the home also is beautifully situated on Middle Spunk Lake with lots of outdoor space and a dock in fantastic shape for boating and fishing. We had several personalities and ages with us from a toddler, to teens, to 40 year olds and a 76 year old grandma - and everyone was comfortable and had plenty to do. Our host, Brett, was responsive, considerate and embodied the Minnesota Nice persona. We couldn’t be happier with our stay!! Lots of memories were made from the fire pit, kayaking, game room, and snuggling while the sun came up and went down over the lake (and so much more)! We would 100% book again with this host and at this property!

My friends and I had a BLAST at this location. Brett was super responsive and was reaching out to make sure everything was going smoothly by the first night. It’s a really nice site with some fun quirks (we loved what we affectionately called “THE PIT”) and we are considering making this a yearly trip!

This place is such a gem for large groups. Plenty of designated true bedrooms for privacy and napping for little ones. We had kids ranging from 1 to 13 and everyone had something to do and space to do it. It was great having the space to stay up after the kids went down and play games, talk and laugh and not worry about waking anyone up. The house was spotless and so comfortable. Brett is extremely responsive and helpful. It really felt like he wanted us to enjoy ourselves there and cared that we had a good time. Plenty of towels, linens, nice air mattress and pack n play. The kitchen was easily stocked for a big group to enjoy multiple meals and not have to constantly be doing dishes. The views on the lake are beautiful and the fire pit was great for s’mores after playing in the snow. Thanks for the great friends weekend!

Less than 5 minutes off I-94, this lake home is the definition of easy access. One exit away from Saint John's University and ~10 minutes to College of Saint Benedict in St. Joseph, while also being a quick drive to St. Cloud. Tons of off street parking is available after the driveway was resurfaced and expanded in the summer of '23. There's 2 spots available in front of the attached gaming garage with room to fit 6 more vehicles between my basketball hoop and the detached garage. There's a small playground for kids and 8 brand new pickleball courts located behind Casey's gas station about half mile away, while Gathering Grounds and Avon Coffee Cabin offer caffeine options on the main drag. For some outdoor adventures, drop your boat in the water just up Chinook Ave or continue a little further to go swimming at Avon Beach outside historic Fisher's Club. Access to the popular Lake Wobegon Trail is a short drive away for biking, walking, rollerblading or snowmobiling in the winter — it's 65 miles long!
